Raymond Hoogendorp in Florence

After the success at KIAF 2011 (Korea International Art Fair), and the participation in OpenArtCode Paris at the Grand Palais in Paris, Raymond Hoogendorp will exhibit in Florence at the gallery Present Art Space, in a solo exhibition curated by Vito Abba and Giada Rodani. A group of recent works, characterized by large canvases will be exhibited in the gallery in Via de' Serragli from January 28 to February 18, 2012. Hours: Monday to Friday from 15.30 to 19.30; info: tel. +39 0552645767.
The paintings and performances of "live painting" by Raymond Hoogendorp at first make us think to American abstract expressionism, not so much to Franz Kline and Willem de Kooning, but rather to Jackson Pollock. When we observe the importance of color, cast on large canvases, and volumes generated by the abundance of paint, we have the clear perception of being faced with something different and original. The primary color blocks of Hoogendorp suggest the fireworks, the champagne that pops the cork of the bottle or to the flow, sometimes impetuous, sometimes slow, of the lava of a volcano. With his work the Dutch artist does not want to translate the representation in the thoughts of his mind, but let us share in his painterly instinct, sometimes playful, sometimes made of strong emotions.
